- According to the sources [1] he is Australian. Do you have any sources to support your claim? SSSB (talk) 13:14, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
Piastri claims to not drive for Alpine in 2023
[edit]Piastri posted a thread on Twitter where he claims he has not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023 and will not be driving for them. https://twitter.com/OscarPiastri/status/1554527452231262210 Manvswow (talk) 18:19, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
First F1 driver born in the 21st century
[edit]As stated in the first paragraph of 21st century, the 21st century started on 1 January 2001. Yuki Tsunoda was born in 2000, which is the last year of the 20th century. Therefore, Piastri is the first F1 driver born in the 21st century, not Tsunoda. DH85868993 (talk) 05:37, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
when did he score "10 2 podiums = 1" wins?

I believe it may have been someone's attempt to indicate where he's not won a race but won a sprint, and not gotten a sprint podium but gotten a race podium. PunkAndromeda (talk) 13:55, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- As per the guidelines regarding the F1 infoboxes, I've removed the edits as sprint races are not counted. PunkAndromeda (talk) 13:59, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
Heritage Claim
[edit]The subject's heritage claims are marketing and self promotion and the claim needs to be independently verified. Piastri is Italian, Serbian and Croatian. The claims to exotic ancestry about being 1/16th Chinese, Japanese and Indian smell of marketing and self promotion and should not be repeated without objective proof. Claim about victories in successive rookie years
[edit]The opening section states "He is the first driver in history to win the Formula Renault Eurocup, Formula 3, and Formula 2 championships (or equivalent) in successive rookie years." However, the racing record section shows that he did not win Formula Renault Eurocup in his rookie year, he placed 6th overall. He did win Formula Renault Eurocup in his second year. The source cited for this claim also does not support it.
Quoting (talk) 14:01, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Quoting: I've changed it to say "in successive years" instead of "in successive rookie years". Thanks for pointing out the error. DH85868993 (talk) 09:26, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

It is stated he has Chinese, Italian and Yugoslav ancestry- this is correct but only reflects his paternal heritage. Recently on The Red Flags Podcast his Mother Nicole Piastri stated her side is Scottish and Irish and “that’s where the pasty skin comes from” I am requesting these details be added to share this new information. Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Youtube and podcasts are not considered reliable sources. PianoDan (talk) 16:43, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- They aren’t reliable when guest in podcast is the Mother of the individual whom page relates to? I fail to see the logic you have followed here. What are reliable sources that would be more credible than the mother of the person? Straight from the horses mouth seems to come to mind here. In what way are podcasts or YouTube not considered reliable they are sources of media utilised by every “reliable” outlet or source I can think of be that individual, corporate or even governmental. So is it just the platform of distribution in its entirety you consider unreliable or is there some podcasts or YouTube that you would trust but not others? If there are some what must one have to meet your standards? Likeableliability (talk) 20:24, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- FYI - At present the page has listed YouTube (archived) as source for the published ancestry - McLaren Racing's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri play 'Fact or Phish?' | Season 2". YouTube. Archived from the original on 25 September 2023. Retrieved 25 September 2023. Likeableliability (talk) 20:29, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- The issue is that YouTube content is what is called a self-published source. These are unreliable because anyone can post anything. I can a video with someone pretending to be Piastri's mum who claims Piastri is adopted. I could probably ise CGI or deep fake to make it look like Oscar's mother. This is even easier with an audio podcast. I think it might be worth taking this to Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard, also a time stamp for when this is mentioned would be helpful. SSSB (talk) 20:57, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- It’s not a self published source as that would be Oscar himself giving such information his mother would be considered a primary source. You have not reconciled the opinion that all YouTube and podcasts are untrustworthy with fact that published page as it is uses YouTube as the source of information, can you please clarify why that source was reliable and this one is not? - Just fyi that was my reply I just done it from email page which wasnt signed in without realising. Likeableliability (talk) 22:06, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't say the existing YouTube video was reliable. We are not discussing that source. That source has nothing to do with this one. Now, where a reliable source, then the associated YouTube channel inherits it's notability (for example BBC Sport is reliable, so the BBC Sport YouTube channel (which is verified as being the official BBC Sport YouTube channel and not a parody account) will inherit that notability.)Next, you misunderstand what is meant by a self-published source. A self-published source is not a source someone published about themselves, but refers to content that anyone can publish by themselves (I.e. without editorial oversight). The issue is that self-published sources is that anyone can write anything. I could make a YouTube video, or appear on a podcast, and claim my cousin is having an affair with Verstappen. What this essentially boils down to is: Is The Red Flags podcast reliable? I wouldn't like to say, which is why it should be taken to Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. SSSB (talk) 06:50, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
